Equity Method of Accounting

Equity Method of Accounting is used for intercompany investments where the investor company holds significant influence over the investee company but does not exercise full control over it. Such Equity Accounted Investees can be a subsidiary or associate or joint venture depending on the percentage of the ownership.

This method requires the investor company to record the investee's profits or losses/ dividends in proportion to the percentage of their ownership.
